Frequently Asked questions
If you have anything else you want to ask, please reach out.
What should I prepare for my initial consultation?
Things to bring:
- Yourself! Feel free to bring a carer, friend or family member if you wish to have a support person attend with you
- A list of current medications
- Any recent blood tests
- GP referral, if relevant
How can I start working with you?
Get in touch via phone or email!
You are very welcome to see me without a referral.
However, it may be worth speaking with your GP to see if you are eligible for a GP care plan or an Eating Disorder Plan, where you will receive a partial rebate through Medicare (please note that not everyone is eligible for these plans as it is at the discretion of your GP)
You may also wish to check with your private health fund, to see if they provide rebates for dietitian consults.
What are your fees?
An initial consult is $195 including GST.
This consult goes for 50 minutes and includes a letter back to your referring Doctor.
Review consults can either be for 30 minutes or 50 minutes.
Clients with an eating disorder typically require the full 50 minutes for reviews.
NDIS plan or self managed clients are charged at the NDIS Dietitian consult rates of $193.99.
What rebates are available?
It may be worth checking whether you are eligible for any of the following:
1. Chronic Disease Management Plan
Speak to your GP to see if you are eligible for a GP chronic disease management plan. This typically requires the person to have a chronic health condition for them to be eligible.
These plans allow for up to 5 dietitian sessions per year, with a rebate of $56 per session.
2. Eating Disorder Care Plan
People with an eating disorder may be eligible for an eating disorder care plan.
Speak to your GP or psychiatrist to see if you may be eligible. These plans allow for up to 20 sessions a year with a dietitian, with a rebate of $56 per session.
3. Private Health Insurance
Check with your private health fund to see if you are eligible for rebates for dietitian services
Do you see clients under NDIS?
Yes. I am able to see clients who are either self managed or plan managed under NDIS.
What days do you work?
My current days of work are:
- Thursdays
- Fridays
If these days don't work for you, please contact me to see if we might be able to arrange another suitable time.
What is an eating disorder credentialed clinician?
The Australian New Zealand Association for Eating Disorders (ANZAED) now have a credential for clinicians to undertake adequate training, clinical supervision and annual further training in order to be eligible for the credential.
The credential is designed to allow clients and their families to better identify practitioners with expertise in supporting clients with an eating disorder, and to ensure that certain standards of care are upheld.
Megan is a Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician.
Why "Quirky"?
I believe that what makes us wonderful as a society are all of the little individual quirks that each of us has.
I am an ADHDer and love supporting neurodivergent clients and getting to know all of the wonderful sensory differences, preferences and ways that neurodivergent folk show up in the world.
And yes, I am rather quirky myself- and proud!
